Job Description
NBC’s “Chicago Fire” is casting real firefighters for paid background roles in an upcoming outdoor scene filming in the Chicago area. The production is seeking male and female firefighters of all ethnicities who can bring authentic professional experience, movement, and presence to the television set. The primary filming day may run approximately 12 hours, with an early call time potentially beginning around 5 a.m. Selected firefighters may also be offered an optional second day of filming, although availability for that additional date is not required.
Job Responsibilities
- Portray a firefighter in an outdoor scene for “Chicago Fire”
- Use real-world firefighting experience to create authentic background action
- Perform natural emergency-response movements and activities as directed
- Follow blocking, positioning, and continuity instructions from the production team
- Repeat assigned actions consistently across multiple takes
- Work professionally alongside cast, crew, and other background performers
- Remain attentive and available throughout a potentially extended filming day
- Participate in the optional second filming day if available and selected
Requirements
- Must be a real firefighter
- Male and female firefighters of all ethnicities are encouraged to apply
- Must be local to Chicago, surrounding suburbs, or a state bordering Illinois
- Comfortable appearing in a non-speaking television background role
- Must be prepared for a filming day that could last approximately 12 hours
- Comfortable with an early morning call time, potentially around 5 a.m.

- Must submit a recent color photo wearing a firefighter uniform

Compensation
- Primary filming day: $206 for up to 8 hours
- Additional $25 special ability bump for the primary filming day
- Time-and-a-half overtime after 8 hours
- Optional second filming day: $136.40 for up to 8 hours, plus time-and-a-half after 8 hours
- Participation in the second filming day is optional
