Navy Nuke / Data Center Facility Engineer – Binghamton, NY

The opportunity is with a leading managed services firm supporting an industrial campus that powers AI and mission-critical data center environments. We are looking for a Navy Nuke – EMN, MMN, or ETN to transition into a Data Center Power / Cooling Systems Engineer responsible for creating, implementing and supporting critical power and cooling solutions, maintaining compliance with contractual commitments, directing technical and administrative tasks related to operating the critical facility infrastructure, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. The data centers supported operate 24x7x365 and require solutions that achieve 99.999% uptime. Navy Nuclear experience is highly transferable to data center facility operation roles with potential for high salaries and leadership opportunities in the critical facilities market.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and run diagnostics, conduct preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on critical facilities equipment within the data center as specified and on schedule
• Participate in the preparation of analyses and reports on data center infrastructure, develop project plans, and conduct briefings and presentations
• Operate and perform annual service on state-of-the-art critical systems, including but not limited to: medium voltage switchgear, diesel generators, paralleling switchboards, UPS, PDU, mechanical heat rejection systems, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems
• Ensure that operational, maintenance and emergency methods of procedure (MOPs and SOPs) are developed and strictly adhered to
• Review schematics and one-line diagrams when servicing equipment within the facility

Qualifications

• Previous experience in the Military; veterans in all branches with electrical/mechanical experience is a plus. Navy Nukes (EMN, ETN, MMN) and related roles; Seabees; Army – Power Generation; Air Force – Power Production; Maritime, Coast Guard, etc. will be considered
• Type of Navy Experience – Navy Nuke Trained / Naval Nuclear Training (will consider all military branches with technical MEP experience)
• EMN – Electricians Mate (Nuclear Trained)
• ETN – Electrical Technician (Nuclear Trained)
• MMN – Machinist Mate (Nuclear Trained)
• Relevant technical knowledge and practical experience of Critical Facilities Operations with Electrical and Mechanical / HVAC equipment (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, CRACs, DC power systems, CRAH units, chillers, air handling units, computer-grade cooling systems, and building monitoring/control systems)
• Experience in operating, troubleshooting and maintaining Mission Critical mechanical and/or electrical support systems
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Experience working with various computer systems and applications
• Data Center Facilities Operations experience is a plus
