Job summary

Peraton is hiring a Naval Structures Modeling Engineer for an onsite role at NSWCCD West Bethesda, MD. You will support the US Navy’s Structural Acoustics research team, using FEM/FEA tools to model, mesh, and analyze complex naval structures and test results with Government SMEs.

A BS/BA with 2 years of experience is required along with hands-on experience in COMSOL, ANSYS, or Abaqus. DoD SECRET clearance is required. Peraton offers a stable, mission-driven environment in national security.

Responsibilities

This is an onsite position at Peraton's customer site: NSWCCD West Bethesda, MD.

Peraton is hiring a Naval Structures Modeling Engineer to do the following:

• Support the US Navy's Structural Acoustics research team at NSWC Carderock Division.
• Candidate will work with Finite Element Modeling / Finite Element Analysis (FEM/FEA) tools to support ongoing research into the acoustics of US Navy platforms.
• Significant portion of responsibilities will involve generation and test of FEM model meshes of complex Naval structures using commercialFEM tools.
• Additional efforts will include running FEA tools, generating results, and assisting Government SMEs in analysis of the FEA results.

Candidate will work within a Government - Contractor team performing multiple projects concurrently. A successful candidate must be a self-starter able to communicate with multiple teams, set and adjust priorities and schedules, and deliver results per schedule.

Qualifications

What you will need:

• 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA

• Demonstrated experience with Finite Element Modeling. Must have experience defining model meshes of complex structures
• Demonstrated experience using commercial FEM/FEA tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, Abaqus
• DoD SECRET Clearance

Target Salary Range

$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
