Job summary

Vision Point Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Technician to support U.S.

Navy ship structures with at least five years of relevant experience. The role requires 50% travel to shipboard assessments, shipyards, and client sites; when not traveling, the technician works on site in Navy offices in Philadelphia, PA, collaborating directly with Navy engineers and maintenance stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Five years of direct Navy ship structure experience or equivalent.
• Experience evaluating, inspecting, maintaining, or repairing Navy ship structures.
• Ability to read naval drawings, weld symbols, and technical specs.
• NDT training with core methods; Level II certification preferred.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and document hull plating, decks, bulkheads, stiffeners and frames.
• Identify corrosion, pitting, metal loss, cracking, deformation and weld issues.
• Perform NDT within qualification limits using approved procedures.
• Collect ultrasonic thickness data and create thickness maps and reports.
• Read ship drawings and verify installed conditions against drawings.
• Assist engineers with evaluations, repair scopes, and follow-up testing.
• Prepare inspection reports, summaries and client briefings; escalate findings.
• Coordinate access and schedules with Navy personnel, shipyards, and maintenance teams.
• Maintain inspection equipment, calibration records and document control.
