Job summary

Austal USA, LLC is seeking a CAD Drafter/Designer with 2+ years in 3D modeling and shipyard design to contribute to aluminum vessel projects. The role involves leading CAD work, interpreting schematics, and coordinating with multiple design teams to ensure deliverables meet strict deadlines.

Applicants should have an associates CAD degree or higher preferred, strong communication, and experience with AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, and Navisworks. This is a on-site position in Mobile, AL.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree or higher in CAD preferred.
• 2 years minimum of 3D modeling experience.
• 3 to 6 years of shipyard design or production/construction experience.
• Experience in construction of high speed aluminum vessels preferred.
• Experience with modular construction methods preferred.
• Experience in design and construction of US Navy vessels preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of scheduling and deadlines.
• Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using 2D and 3D AutoCAD; basic draw/modify commands; XREFs.
• Experience with ShipConstructor preferred.
• Knowledge in Equipment, ElectricalFitout, Foundations, Hull, HVAC.

Responsibilities

• May lead the work of CAD Drafters and Designer.
• May determine technical adequacy of drawings and models.
• May train CAD Drafters and Designers I-III per standards.
• May work with Production Management and cross-functional design teams.
