Job summary

Naval Sea Systems Command seeks an experienced professional engineer/naval architect with at least one year at the GS-11 level or equivalent. You will provide technical guidance for shipbuilding design, stability, weight control, space arrangement, hull and deck coverings, and survivability.

Responsibilities include reviewing contractor designs, evaluating changes, and supporting ship inspections and sea trials.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience must demonstrate ship design and technical guidance for shipbuilding, stability and habitability.
• Experience in construction, conversion or repair to meet technical requirements and safety standards.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, design engineers, vendors and Naval activities.

Responsibilities

• Review contractor engineering products for compliance with contract specifications.
• Evaluate engineering changes and support major ship events and inspections.
• Conduct ship checks to investigate malfunctions and resolve technical issues.
