Job summary

Turtle Island Children's Center in Montpelier, Vermont, is seeking a dedicated early childhood professional to join our year-round program for infants through pre-kindergarten.

Hours are 8:00am to 3:30pm, and you will work with a team of educators, volunteers and substitute teachers to provide a safe, nature-based learning environment that supports social, emotional and cognitive development. Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience with infant/toddler group care.
  • 21 credits in ECE or Level 3 within 90 days of hire.
  • Understanding developmental needs from birth to 18 months; responsive to intellectual, emotional and social needs.
  • Team player with flexibility and collaborative mindset.
  • Love and respect for children and early childhood education.
  • Must be at least 20 years old.
  • Able to kneel, bend, squat, lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Meet annual professional development requirements per Vermont regulations.
  • Willingness to continue education in ECE or related field.
  • Complete First Aid/CPR training upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing, safe, and healthy environments for infants and toddlers.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and teachers to follow guidelines and expectations.
  • Observe and document children's learning to support emergent curriculum.
  • Coordinate with co-teacher to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and families.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher conferences biannually.
  • Actively supervise children to keep them safe at all times.
  • Create and maintain a clean, organized, welcoming classroom.
