Career Opportunities is seeking an Environmental Monitor for a full-time field role along the US-Mexico border. Responsibilities include documenting field conditions, surveying habitat, and coordinating with government and construction teams on BMP compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of environmental monitoring experience, a BS in biology or related field, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather while maintaining accuracy in data and reports.

Qualifications

  • Experience at construction sites is required.
  • Be willing to work in inclement weather and travel as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily environmental field notes with photographs regarding compliance with project BMPs.
  • Collect project-related data including surveys for listed species and reporting non-compliance to the Government Point of Contact.
  • Conduct pre-construction surveys for nesting birds, listed plants and wildlife as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with construction personnel, regulators, and stakeholders on the project.

Mahalo for your interest in this role Please see the full position description below and Salary 30 per hour LAUKOA is seeking an experienced Environmental Monitor to join our conservation and planning team for a dedicated project located along the USMexico International Border LAUKOA is seeking an environmental monitor with biologicalecological experience in the following locations This is a full time 40 hours per week plus overtime position on a large scale government project The ideal candidate will be motivated be a self starter be safety oriented and hold previous experience working as a biological monitor at a construction Site Candidates should be comfortable working around heavy equipment be able to work independently have a clean driving record be able to pass a background check and be familiar using GPS and tablets to document detailed environmental and project information

Responsibilities

Provide daily environmental field notes with photographs regarding compliance with project best management practicesCollect project related data which may include supporting surveys for listed species; surveying out in front of construction document potential environmental best management practices non compliance and reporting to Government Point of ContactConduct pre construction surveys for nesting birds state and federally listed plants and wildlife as neededEffectively communicate with a variety of personnel working on the project including construction personnel Government colleagues regulatory agencies or stakeholders and others

Requirements

2 years of environmental monitoring experienceBS in biological sciences or related fieldPrevious environmental monitoring at construction sites work requiredBe willing to work in inclement weather conditions extreme heat rain or cold and possibly traverse steep terrain in some locations Candidates must be able to work independently The position may be flexible in that it can vary in intensity throughout the year but does require the successful candidate to be in the field every week day for one yearEffective writtenverbal communication and organizationanalytical skills; experience recordingwriting detailed technical data and reports a plusFamiliarity understanding taxonomy and have good plant identification skills for areas along the US Mexico BorderFamiliarity with environmental monitoring at construction sitesDetail oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands on trouble shootingproblem solving skillsAbility to multi task maintain flexibility travel and work independently as well as with supervisionMust possess a valid drivers license and have a clean driving recordAble to pass a federal background check for this project based assignmentAble to pass a drug test
