Locs of Love LLC in Ferndale, MI is hiring a Natural Hair Stylist for a part-time role with a clear path to full-time as client and productivity grow. You will deliver high-quality natural hair services, maintain sanitation and professionalism, and support a collaborative salon environment.

Starting at 20 hours per week with potential to move to 32 hours and full-time later, the compensation combines a guaranteed base pay of $15/hour with a progressive commission from 40% to 70% of service

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Natural Hair Culturist or Cosmetology license.
• Experience with loc maintenance, braids, twists.
• Strong understanding of natural hair care, sanitation, and professional service techniques.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong time management, reliability, and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to ongoing education, company standards, and exceptional client experiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform natural hair services, including retwists, interlocking, starter locs, braids, twists, and loc styling, based on training and licensure.
• Conduct professional consultations and recommend appropriate services and maintenance schedules.
• Complete appointments within established service-time guidelines while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
• Manage your appointment book efficiently and keep availability open for additional bookings.
• Educate clients on healthy hair practices, home maintenance, and recommended retail products.
• Encourage client retention, rebooking, and retail sales.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
• Assist with shampooing, client preparation, and other salon operations as assigned.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and continuing education.
• Meet established productivity and performance standards.
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and supportive team environment.
