Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a System Integration Engineer to support the AISR&T program in Rancho Bernardo, CA . In this role, you will focus on planning, executing, and troubleshooting system integration activities across airborne Intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISR) and tactical systems, ensuring that hardware, software, networks, and mission applications work together as a cohesive system.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute system integration activities for AISR&T, including lab and (as applicable) flight integration.
  • Integrate software, hardware, network, and mission subsystems into end‑to‑end system configurations; support build, bring‑up, and regression events.
  • Develop and maintain integration artifacts such as integration plans, configuration baselines, interface implementation notes, and integration test procedures.
  • Work closely with design teams to understand system and interface designs and translate them into practical integration and test steps.
  • Perform system‑level troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis of integration issues; drive resolution with software, hardware, network, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Support definition and execution of integration and system test events, including test readiness, test conduct, data review, and discrepancy reporting.
  • Provide input to requirements and interface definitions based on integration realities and lessons learned.
  • Prepare and deliver clear integration status, risk/issue reports, and technical briefings to program leadership and customers.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least some of relevant military / professional / academic experience
  • Must have experience in system integration and/or systems engineering on complex systems (e.g., multi‑subsystem, networked, or real‑time systems).
  • Must have familiarity with integration and test processes, defect tracking, and configuration management tools.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work hands‑on in lab environments and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Hands‑on experience with system bring‑up, lab/rig integration, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, or flight test support.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining integration lab environments (servers, networks, benches, instrumentation, cabling).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate integration tasks, test execution, data collection, or log analysis.
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks or CI/CD tooling to support repeatable builds, deployments, and regression testing.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting applications and services across OS environments such as Windows and Linux.
  • Experience integrating airborne ISR, mission systems, or tactical communications systems (platform, sensors, comms, networks).

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
