Job summary

Memorial Park Conservancy seeks a Horticulture Coordinator to advance the health and aesthetics of the park's native landscapes by leading daily horticulture field and production operations. You will exercise independent judgment on plant health and site conditions, coordinating a team to follow established landscape and production standards.

The role reports to the Horticulture Supervisor and requires on-site work at Memorial Park with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional evenings/weekends

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of professional experience in horticulture or related field.
  • Knowledge of native landscape management, plant production, irrigation oversight, and pest management.
  • Strong plant and pest identification; familiarity with native and invasive species preferred.
  • Experience safely operating horticulture equipment and production tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital work order or asset management systems.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily horticulture field and production operations within assigned areas.
  • Coordinate team members to implement established native landscape management and plant production standards.
  • Exercise independent judgment in addressing plant health and site conditions.
  • Oversee irrigation and integrated pest management activities.
  • Ensure safety procedures and PPE compliance; report hazards to supervisors.

Job description

The Horticulture Coordinator advances the health, aesthetics, and ecological function of Memorial Park’s native landscapes by leading daily horticulture field and production operations within assigned areas. This role prioritizes landscape and production activities, exercises independent judgment in addressing plant health and site conditions, and coordinates team members to implement established native landscape management and plant production standards.

This role reports to the Horticulture Supervisor.

  • Work Location: On-site at Memorial Park
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday at 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM; occasional evenings and weekends required based on operational needs (seasonal adjustments may apply)
  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
  • Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid time off; short- and long-term disability; and 401(k) retirement plan. Part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience in horticulture, native landscape management, plant production, or related field; leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of horticultural practices including native landscape management, plant production systems, irrigation oversight, and integrated pest management.
  • Strong plant and pest identification skills; familiarity with native and invasive species preferred.
  • Experience safely operating horticulture equipment and production tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital work order or asset management systems.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Capacity to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Safely operate motorized vehicles and power equipment.
  • Work safely in high-traffic public environments.
  • Perform work at heights following required safety training.
