Job summary

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) seeks a full-time Education Program Manager to plan and execute the Petraeus Center for Emerging Leaders’ educational offerings. The role covers internship programs, Hertog War Studies, professional development, and alumni engagement, reporting to the Petraeus Center Director.

Responsibilities include coordinating with research teams, planning lectures and events, maintaining SOPs, and measuring program effectiveness to continually improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in an educational program or national security field, including 2–3 years managing significant projects.
• Experience serving as a higher education teaching assistant or research assistant is preferred.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of projects and balance competing priorities and deadlines.
• Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute ISW's internship programs and onboarding three times annually.
• Coordinate with ISW research teams and partner organizations to prepare content and onboarding material.
• Plan education, lectures, briefings, and professional development activities.
• Maintain internship SOPs and handbooks with best practices.
• Develop recruitment campaigns and manage intern selection processes.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and report outcomes every semester.
• Support Hertog War Studies and other Petraeus Center programs with planning and logistics.
• Support alumni networking, events, and communications.
