What You'll Be Doing

As the National Head, Private Bank Lending, you'll serve as a senior leader within the US Private Banking business, with primary accountability for lending strategy, credit oversight, portfolio health, and end-to-end lending execution. Reporting to the Head of US Private, Personal & Digital Banking, this role will lead the lending agenda for the franchise and work in close partnership with the Chief Banking Officer and other senior leaders to support growth, deliver sound risk management, and ensure an exceptional client and banker experience. You'll serve as the single credit authority and deal execution leader across all lending activity within Private, Personal & Digital Banking (PP&D), structuring deals, owning the end-to-end loan execution process, and ensuring speed, quality, and client experience for every loan transaction. This role is intended for a leader who can build and lead a high-performing lending organization, bring sound judgment to complex situations, and establish an operating model that enables bankers to structure, advise, and execute business in the right way. You'll be empowered to assess the needs of the business, strengthen the lending platform over time, and bring forward ideas that improve speed, quality, consistency, and portfolio performance while maintaining strong first-line credit discipline.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. To successfully perform the work of this role, you'll generally be on-site full-time with flexibility.

How You'll Succeed

  • Drive credit approval and portfolio health - Deliver competitive turnaround times, ensure portfolio credit quality, and oversee portfolio health through disciplined first-line risk management, strong credit standards, and proactive identification of emerging issues, concentrations, and performance trends.
  • Structure complex deals - Provide leadership on credit matters across the business, including complex transactions, credit structuring, underwriting, and tailored financing solutions, especially for ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients.
  • Own loan execution - Manage the process from approval to close, improving decision-making, reducing friction in the process, and enhancing the experience for clients and internal partners.
  • Partner across the franchise - Serve as a senior executive partner alongside the Chief Banking Officer and other business leaders, and collaborate closely with leaders across Private Banking, Personal Banking, Product and Revenue, Risk, Finance, Operations, and other key stakeholders to deliver integrated outcomes and maintain alignment across the franchise.
  • Uphold credit standards - Establish and enforce first-line credit standards, maintain a solutions-oriented culture, and work closely with risk partners to enhance policy and deliver competitive Private Banking solutions in line with CIBC's risk appetite.
  • Build the lending organization - Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, elevating standards, and fostering a culture of accountability, partnership, and practical problem-solving.
  • Measure and improve outcomes - Drive strong execution outcomes through high deal conversion, booking efficiency, client satisfaction, and consistent portfolio performance.
Who You Are
  • You have the right education. Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • You bring deep industry experience. You have significant executive leadership experience in lending, credit, private banking, commercial banking, wealth management, or a closely related financial services business.
  • You're a strategic and disciplined leader. You have a strong track record of balancing business growth with sound credit judgment, portfolio oversight, and risk management.
  • You bring deep lending expertise. You have strong experience in credit structuring, underwriting, lending execution, and portfolio management, including complex client needs and tailored financing solutions.

  • You're highly collaborative. You build trusted relationships across business, operations, and risk, and partner effectively with bankers, risk partners, operations teams, and senior executives.
  • You put clients first. You understand the importance of speed, quality, and satisfaction in loan transactions and are focused on delivering an exceptional client and banker experience.
  • You bring strong business and analytical acumen. You combine business judgment with financial and analytical strength, using data and insight to improve credit quality, execution speed, and portfolio outcomes.
