Job summary

Hearst Television in Pittsburgh is seeking a Digital News Curator to create and distribute nationally focused news content for over two dozen local stations. You will write, publish, and edit digital content for station websites, apps, and social channels, elevating national stories with strong storytelling under deadline pressure.

The role reports to the Senior Curator and is a full-time, in-person position based in Pittsburgh, PA. Flexibility for a 24-hour news cycle is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a newsroom or digital publishing.
• Strong news judgment and editorial decision-making.
• Excellent AP writing and copyediting.
• Basic knowledge of video editing.
• Understanding of social media best practices.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and publish news stories of national interest for Hearst Television stations nationwide.
• Write compelling headlines and craft effective mobile push notifications.
• Respond quickly to breaking news with editorial judgment for distribution across platforms.
• Curate and syndicate national/international content for local audiences.
• Copy edit content per AP Style.
• Edit and create videos and graphics for social channels.
• Manage live video streams across digital, mobile, and social platforms.
• Coordinate with local stations and digital teams to support content needs.
• Maintain high ethical and journalistic standards.

Hearst Television is seeking a well-rounded, full-time Digital News Curator to create and distribute nationally focused news content for more than two dozen local Hearst Television stations across the country. The curator will write, publish, and edit digital content for station websites, mobile apps, and social media channels, elevating stories of national interest. This role requires an excellent storyteller who thrives under deadline pressure and can create compelling content in a competitive news environment. The curator will join Hearst Television’s National Desk and will report to the Senior Curator. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and publish news stories of national interest for Hearst Television stations nationwide.
• Write compelling headlines and craft effective mobile push notifications.
• Respond quickly to breaking news with strong editorial judgment to determine how content should be distributed across stations’ digital platforms.
• Curate and syndicate national and international news content from our stations/partners that aligns with the interests of local station audiences.
• Copy edit content in adherence with AP Style.
• Edit and create videos and graphics for our stations’ social channels
• Manage live video streams and distribute them to Hearst Television stations across digital, mobile, and social platforms.
• Coordinate with local stations and digital teams to support content and coverage needs.
• Maintain high ethical and journalistic standards.

Requirements

• Experience working in a newsroom or digital publishing environment.
• Strong news judgment and editorial decision-making skills.
• Excellent AP writing and copyediting skills.
• Basic knowledge of video editing.
• Understanding of social media best practices.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice, to support a 24-hour news cycle.
• Related military experience will be considered.
