Job summary

Restoration Management Company is seeking a National Construction Superintendent to travel nationwide and provide on-site leadership for restoration and reconstruction projects. You will manage field teams, negotiate with subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality across multiple sites.

The role requires supervisory experience in commercial construction, budgeting, and strong communication skills. Travel is extensive, including evenings and weekends, to support urgent losses nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction performing supervisory or superintendent duties.
• Hands-on experience in defining project budgets, including tracking/monitoring and reporting.
• Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Industry related certifications are a plus.
• Experience in developing and maintaining strong customer relations, building on company reputation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Computer experience in MS Outlook and other programs; basic Excel/Word; Xactimate a plus.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The National Construction Superintendent is required to travel across the country to respond to restoration and/or reconstruction losses nationwide and provide on-site superintendent support. Emergencies can occur at any time and require immediate mobilization. During emergency response operations, the National Construction Superintendent conducts on-site damage assessments, establishes operational priorities, mobilizes crews and subcontractors, and leads recovery efforts designed to minimize property damage, business interruption, and liability. They are responsible for overseeing multiple technicians while simultaneously managing the production of multiple construction (repair) projects that are generally outsourced to subcontractors. This role collaborates with subcontractors to determine the scope of work, negotiate prices, coordinate schedules, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. The National Construction Superintendent manages field teams, materials, and project timelines while working closely with clients and internal departments to deliver successful project outcomes. This position reports directly to Regional Operations Manager and interfaces regularly with other departments as required.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborates and communicate effectively with adjusters, customers, co-workers and contractors – articulating scope of work, expectations, timelines.
• Respond to losses nationwide, including traveling to project sites on short notice to provide on-site leadership and operational support.
• Responsible for negotiating pricing, confer and obtain approval to proceed from Branch Manager, National Operations Manager, and/or Regional Operations Manager.
• Create cost estimates for supplies, materials and other project costs.
• Provides scope and direction of work performed by subcontractors to ensure work performed as agreed to and to customer satisfaction.
• Recommend and implement changes in the operation of projects as necessary to meet construction budgets and deadlines.
• Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment with suppliers and vendors.
• Develop means of tracking and monitoring subcontractor work; follow-up regularly and update job records.
• Provides Project Managers or Project Directors budgets and schedules for repair projects prior to commencement of work.
• Reviews all project related documents and work orders and ensures delivery to appropriate parties in order to bill in a timely manner.
• Manages and maintains job budgets and schedules.
• Creates and maintains schedule for subcontractors performing work on the jobs assigned.
• Evaluates subcontractor performance, report deficiencies, and addresses corrective actions.
• Obtains necessary permits or city licenses through local agencies as necessary.
• Reviews and approves paperwork and billing promptly.
• Provide regular reporting to management and project stakeholders on job site operations (schedules, performance, personnel).
• Travel extensively throughout the United States, including evenings, weekends, and extended assignments as business needs dictate.
• Support the Company’s safe workplace policies and practices and promotes adherence.

Experience/ Requirements

The position of National Construction Superintendent requires the following:

• Experience in commercial construction performing supervisory or superintendent duties, specific to construction and/or restoration/mitigation loss.
• Hands‑on experience in defining projects budgets, including tracking/monitoring and reporting.
• Requires a Valid Driver’s License, with driving record in good standing.
• Industry related certifications are a plus.
• Experience in developing and maintaining strong customer relations, building on company reputation.
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) at all levels
• Possess excellent time management skills, can set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Computer experience in MS Outlook and other programs, can produce basic excel and word documents. (Xactimate is a plus)

Safety Requirements

• Regulatory Requirements: Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear. All employees must wear PPE as required for their specific roles and job site conditions.
• Ergonomic Practices: Practice ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders. This includes proper desk setup, using adjustable chairs, and maintaining good posture while seated.
• Office Safety Protocols: Adhere to established office safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment. This includes the following guidelines for the proper use of office equipment and ensuring that workspaces are free from clutter to prevent trips and falls.
• Safety Training: Complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including but not limited to hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
• Reporting Safety Concerns: Ability to identify and immediately report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents or injuries to supervisors without fear of retaliation.
• Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures relevant to your specific job site, including evacuation routes, and emergency contacts.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Physical Activities: Ability to perform tasks that require, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climb, squat, crawl, lift above shoulder, reach, and twist.
• Sitting and Standing: Prolongedsitting or standing required (in office, driving and/or at job sites). Regular alternating between sitting and standing
• Repetitive Motions: Continuous repetitive motion and tasks involving L/R hand movement (computer/mouse), wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
• Machinery Operation: Capacity to operate machinery and tools as required by job tasks, which may involve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Visual Ability: requirement for clear vision (e.g., close work, computer use, eye coordination)

Working Conditions

Office Environment

• Indoor office setting for corporate roles, including working with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers). May involve regular meetings, (in person or zoom) and collaboration with team members.

Field Environment

• Outdoor fieldwork at restoration sites, which may include residential, commercial, or industrial properties. Duties may involve exposure to different weather conditions (sun, rain, snow, heat).

Hazardous Environments

• Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or contaminants specific to restoration work, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE.
• Work after hours and weekends given our 24/7 business operations

Travel Requirements

• Mandatory travel to and from job sites, requiring the use of company and rented vehicles and air travel. Possibility of attending out-of-town training or conferences.
