Job summary

Cogent Communications is seeking a sales professional for an in-office role in Houston, TX. The position focuses on hunting and sourcing new business within a National Sales Territory, targeting mid-market and larger accounts, with commissions tied to recurring revenue, NRCs, and Burst.

Qualifications

• Previous sales experience with a track record of success is required.
• Ability to identify, qualify and generate new business through prospecting and research.
• Strong oral and written communication is required.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment with revenue deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM are a plus.
• A college degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory via sourcing and Hunting to Identify new business opportunities within National Sales Territory focused on the Mid Market and non-named National Account target market segments (up to 500 – 999 employees)
• Through direct calling, email and other contact efforts you will identify, qualify, and generate these new business opportunities by working directly with Key Decision Makers
• Compliment prospecting and selling efforts through field work such as building walks, lobby events, property management relationships, and customer face to face meetings
• Leverage consultative and relationship building selling techniques you will identify current and future connectivity solutions
• Help Cogent customers and prospects by positioning our services for new business
• Achieve monthly revenue goals by selling into the nation's largest commercial and retail buildings; office parks and professional campuses

Compensation

[Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: [$19.23- $38.46 per hour or $40,000 – $80,000 per year].

Commission: Commissions are earned on each sale based on product type:

• 50% -150% of one month’s MRCs (monthly recurring charges)


• 1/12 of one-time NRCs (non-recurring charges) &


• 1/24 of Burst

[Tenured] Base Salary Pay Range: [$19.23 - $48.07 per hour or $40,000 - $100,000 per year] based on achievement of structured tenure based and performance based pay increases.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.
