Responsibilities

  • Mentor students in the studio model of community-based Art Therapy with contemplative themes.
  • Provide supervisory feedback on the studio-model of Art Therapy.
  • Track art materials and ensure material availability.
  • Review student journal assignments for reflective practice.
  • Coordinate and assemble the group of community participants.
  • Monitor safety needs for students and participants.
  • Communicate with Art Therapy Faculty as needed.

Position Title: Naropa Community Art Studio Mentor

Department/Program: MTC Art Therapy 12070

Remote Work Classification: 100% On-Site

Campus Location: Nalanda Campus

Reports to: Chair, Transpersonal Art Therapy

FLSA Classification: Exempt/Salaried

FTE: 8% (3 hrs/week)

Compensation: $900 Stipend Fall 2026 / $900 Stipend Spring 2027

Job Summary

Naropa Community Art Studio (NCAS) Mentors supervise students during the fall and spring semesters at the NCAS. Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mentor students in the studio model of community-based Art Therapy including the integration of contemplative themes like service as a spiritual practice;
  • Offering supervisory feedback on the studio-model of Art Therapy;
  • Tracking art materials;
  • Reviewing student journal assignments;
  • Tracking, contacting, and assembling the group of community participants;
  • Monitoring safety needs for the students and community participants; and
  • As need be, communicate with Art Therapy Faculty.

  • Dedicated and demonstrated artist identity and productivity with art materials and processes
  • Professional reliability and impeccable communication and organization skills
  • Experience with teaching others to use a wide range of art materials and processes
  • Ability to suspend clinical skills in favor of studio mentorship skills
  • Ability to meaningfully evaluate student journals and offer feedback
  • Experience supervising students, offering students critical feedback when required, modeling studio mentorship with participants, organizing weekly studios, and helping to fill the studio with appropriate participants
Educational degree/diploma required:
  • Master's degree in Art Therapy
Minimum length of prior relevant professional experience required:
  • 1 year of experience working in the studio model of art therapy
What We'd Like You to Have
  • 2 years of supervising graduate art therapy students
  • Research record (writing or presentations) addressing the studio model
  • Strong community connections related to the populations participating in the NCAS
