Sygaldry Technologies in Ann Arbor, MI, is seeking a hands-on process development engineer to build and refine multistep fabrication flows for nanophotonic devices in a cleanroom. You will run lithography, deposition and etching, inspect results with microscopy and metrology, and design experiments to probe process limits and failure modes while documenting recipes for repeatability.
Collaboration with designers and test engineers ensures fabrication outcomes support optical performance.
The role centers on building and refining multistep fabrication flows for nanophotonic devices, running lithography, deposition and etching in a cleanroom, then checking results with microscopy and metrology. A strong candidate has real hands on nanofabrication ownership, can design experiments to find process limits and failure modes, and documents recipes and changes carefully so results can be repeated. Clear communication with designers and test engineers matters, since fabrication outcomes feed back into optical performance and design choices.
The work stays physical and hands on: process development, cleanroom execution and defect diagnosis depend on judgment built from direct experience. AI tools can help with data analysis, experiment planning and spotting patterns across process records, which speeds up yield improvement. The human part is deciding what the measurements mean and connecting fabrication results to optical performance.
This posting does not ask for AI experience, so the relevant grounding is experimental design and data analysis with Python or similar tools. Building skill in analyzing metrology and process data, and in using software to track recipes and results, would fit a company whose product is quantum accelerated AI servers. Understanding how fabrication quality affects device performance is the most direct way to contribute.
