Job description

Vyir Tech is a high-tech startup with a patented technology focused on infrared cameras. Our Nano EnCoater Technology allows for better image quality, a reduction in camera size, weight, and power, at a lower price point.

Technology Vision

A typical infrared camera uses pixels fabricated from semiconductor materials that are electrically read out. These are expensive and low resolution, preventing their adoption for promising applications. Vyir's optical infrared camera uses pixels fabricated from its Nano EnCoater technology that transduce the information from an infrared image into visible laser light and then uses a standard cell phone complementary metal‑oxide semiconductor camera for optical readout. This approach enables a 10X reduction in price, reducing hardware size, weight, and power, enhancing pixels by 15X to provide better image quality.

Technology Potential for Impact

Infrared cameras are versatile tools that enable the world to be seen in a different light. They enhance our awareness, leading to increased safety, resulting in reduced loss of life and property damage. They allow soldiers to identify threats on a battlefield, locate dangerous gas leaks in the petrochemical industry from a safe distance, and see automobiles at night, through rain, gaining awareness of potential obstacles.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate nanofabrication and characterization equipment to execute process steps and consistently produce high‑quality nanofabricated optical devices.
  • Conduct thin film deposition, thermal processes, photolithography, dry etching, and other nanofabrication processes.
  • Work on Department of Defense related projects.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Graduate degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Surface Science, Physics, Nanoengineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • One to three years of nanofabrication cleanroom experience.
  • Proven experience in nanofabrication or microfabrication processes in a cleanroom environment, especially in film deposition (PVD, CVD, LPCVD, ALD), plasma etching (ICP, ECR, DRIE), spin coating, lithography (photo and E‑beam), wet development, spin rinse drying, liftoff, optical microscopes, ellipsometry, and contact profilometry.
  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals for wet processing such as HF and BOE.
  • 0‑2 years of proven related industry experience, with non‑academic research experience being a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residence status required.
Preferred Skills
  • Self‑motivated with a strong desire to acquire on‑the‑job training and succeed.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced research and development environment with the ability to adapt and learn new processes quickly.
