Job summary

The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University is seeking a NAGPRA Coordinator to support the implementation of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The successful candidate will engage in consultation, inventory research, and report production while fostering collaborative dialogues and diverse perspectives.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields and professional experience in museum or indigenous heritage research. This term appointment ends on December 31, 2028. A hybrid work format is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as anthropology, archaeology, Indigenous or American studies, or museum studies.
  • Two years of professional experience in a museum, archaeological, and/or indigenous heritage or research center.
  • Masters degree will be considered in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct consultation, inventory research, and report production for NAGPRA.
  • Facilitate use of the collection for NAGPRA implementation.
  • Coordinate with other Museum departments for the transfer of collections under NAGPRA.

Experience with NAGPRA implementation

Education
