Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Museum Studies, or related field with 2+ years in museum/NAGPRA.
• Alternatively, a related bachelor’s degree with 6+ years in museum/NAGPRA or related experience.
• Strong communication with Tribal Nations and familiarity with federal documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate NAGPRA compliance timelines, reporting requirements, and communications with the National NAGPRA Program.
• Document inventory and consultation for Ancestors, funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony; follow federal standards.
• Prepare federal inventories, summaries, notices, and Federal Register submissions.
• Support and facilitate consultation with Tribal Nations and coordinate repatriation logistics.
• Serve as NAGPRA liaison between the University, tribal nations, the National NAGPRA program and other agencies.
• Develop and maintain databases, catalog records, and secure documentation systems for NAGPRA-related collections.
