Job summary

Atlas NextWave is looking for qualified Coating Inspectors for an offshore wind project in the United States. Applicants must hold an AMPP / NACE Level 3 certification and availability to start ASAP. The project is expected to continue into August with a 3 weeks on/off rotation.

Key responsibilities include inspecting steel surfaces, ensuring proper coating application, and maintaining quality standards. Candidates must be US-based or hold a B1-OCS visa if from abroad. Willingness to obtain additional certifications like GWO and HUET is required.

Job description

Our offshore wind client is seeking Coating Inspectors who hold AMPP / NACE Level 3 to join their project in the US. Seeking someone available ASAP, with the scope expected to last into August. The rotation schedule is 3 weeks on/off. US-based applicants are encouraged to apply, and non-US applicants must hold a B1-OCS visa.

Responsibilities

• Inspect steel surfaces prior to coating, checking for proper profile, cleanliness, and the removal of soluble salts and contaminants.
• Check and log ambient temperature, surface temperature, relative humidity, and dew point to ensure optimal conditions for coating application.
• Oversee the mixing and application of protective paints, ensuring adherence to the Manufacturer's Product Data Sheet (PDS).
• Perform tests to check Wet Film Thickness (WFT), Dry Film Thickness (DFT), and coating adhesion.
• Inspect for flaws such as pinholes, blistering, cracking, or peeling, and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when specifications are not met.
• Record all inspection data and compile detailed quality assurance documentation.
