Job summary

Sanford Health in Fargo, ND is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide patient-centered care under RN/LPN supervision. You will assist with daily living activities and help maintain a safe, healing environment.

Shifts are 8 hours, Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm with holiday rotation; 40 hours weekly. Additional compensation for nights, weekends, and holidays. CNA preferred; ND/WI registry requirements apply for non-CNA candidates. This role is ideal for students seeking a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• CNA certification preferred and must maintain required department competencies and certifications.
• ND: if not CNA, must be on the North Dakota Nurse Aaid Registry within four months of employment.
• WI: must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with eligibility or be a student nurse with 16 hours of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with daily living activities (bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, dressing) and emotional support.
• Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Collect non-invasive specimens as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient care.
• Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and dispose of biomedical waste per policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Provide one-on-one care to patients when needed for safe care.

Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

• Provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities; bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs.
• Administer delegated tasks and treatments. Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
• Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
• If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
