Job summary

impact.com is hiring a Database Administrator to manage MySQL clusters, perform capacity planning, and optimize queries for near real-time analytics across terabytes of data.

You will collaborate with developers, design schema and indexes, and implement robust backup and recovery while scaling systems linearly as we grow. A strong HA environment and Python scripting are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science or related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a production Database Administrator.
  • 4+ years experience with MySQL / Percona Server variants and CloudSQL/AWS RDS.
  • 2+ years experience with Postgres.
  • 2+ years experience with ClickHouse.
  • Experience with ProxySQL 2.x/3.x and related tools.
  • 3+ years writing Linux shell scripts, Python, etc.
  • Experience in High Availability MySQL/Percona environments.
  • Experience handling large data volumes (hundreds of TB to PB).
  • Knowledge of InnoDB tuning and performance optimization.
  • Experience with SingleStore, MongoDB, Percona XtraDB Cluster.
  • Experience with Puppet and Terraform.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support multiple MySQL database clusters and sharded clusters.
  • Manage capacity and perform proactive planning; optimize queries.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance; develop backup/recovery procedures.
  • Perform essential database administration: install, configure, upgrade, partitioning, monitoring.
  • ProxySQL administration; collaborate with developers on schema, tables, indexes, procedures.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and database risks; conduct benchmarking.

Your Role at impact.com:

As a Database Administrator at impact.com, you will work with the latest technologies that enable near-real time processing of datasets in the Terabytes range and the exciting challenges that come with working with massive amounts of data. What You'll Do:
  • Administer and support multiple MySQL database clusters
  • Administer and support sharded MySQL database clusters
  • Manage database capacity and usage. Pro-active capacity planning.
  • Query optimization
  • Monitor and optimize database performance
  • Develop backup and recovery procedures
  • Essential Database administration - install, configure, upgrade, backup, partitioning and monitoring of MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB and Clickhouse database clusters
  • ProxySQL administration
  • Work with developers during application development life cycle in the design and planning of schema, tables, data types, indexes, procedures and functions
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and database risks
  • Benchmarking
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science or a related field, or relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a production Database Administrator
  • 4+ years experience with MySQL / Percona Server 5.1, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8.0, 8.4 / CloudSQL / AWS RDS MySQL/Postgres and Aurora
  • 2+ years experience with Postgres
  • 2+ years experience with Clickhouse
  • Experience with ProxySQL 2.x, 3.x / Orchestrator, Percona XtraBackup
  • 3+ years of experience in writing Linux shell scripts, perl scripts, Python etc.
  • Experience with High Availability MySQL/Percona environments
  • Experience working with Large Data Volumes - 100’s of Terabytes to Petabytes
  • Strong understanding of InnoDB and InnoDB tuning.
  • Experience working with SingleStore, MongoDB, Percona XtraDB Cluster
  • Experience with Puppet, Terraform

Salary Range:

$150,000 - $170,000 per year, plus an additional 5% variable annual bonus contingent on Company performance and eligible to receive a Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) grant.*This is the pay range the Company believes is equitable for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
