Join to apply for the MWR Laborer role at Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR)

This position is in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region, Southwest. The incumbent assists in maintaining the Golf Course and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform ground maintenance, including grading, digging ditches, and trenching using picks and shovels. Operate large industrial power mowers and riding mowers, adjust blades, prepare fuel mixtures, and perform cleaning and lubrication.
  2. Assist with general clean-up and maintenance of grass, planted areas, parking lots, and recreation areas by removing trash, weeds, and brush. Transport supplies and personnel as needed.
  3. Conduct routine maintenance on power equipment, including safety checks, lubrication, and fuel management.
  4. Perform miscellaneous tasks such as watering plants, trimming weeds, applying seed or fertilizer, and planting flowers or shrubs.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Meet federal employment suitability requirements and pass background investigations, including fingerprint checks.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications
  • Experience in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, or landscaping.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of groundskeeping skills.
  • Skill in operating, controlling, and maintaining heavy power equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools like rakes, mowers, clippers, shovels, etc.
  • Skill in performing routine maintenance and adjusting mower blades.
  • Valid driver's license.
