Job summary

NAS Lemoore MWR is seeking a versatile grounds maintenance worker to perform duties across grounds, warehouses, facilities, and rental operations. This role involves heavy labor, use of hand and power tools, and operating motor vehicles and large equipment.

Candidates should demonstrate KSAs such as safe operation of power tools, riding mower on slopes, operating equipment near structures, manual tool use, and the ability to follow detailed instructions and simple drawings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of various large equipment and power tools.
• Ability to operate riding mowers on slopes with attention to working space and environment.
• Ability to operate equipment around buildings, trees, walls and hillsides.
• Ability to operate controls to maneuver equipment and lift/lower components.
• Knowledge and skill using hand tools and other equipment such as shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment, pallet jacks.
• Ability to complete assignments by following detailed processes and directions.
• Ability to follow general instructions or read simple drawings to perform manual tasks.

Job description

This position is assigned to the Community Recreation Division; MWR Department; NASL. The purpose of this position is to perform duties commonly found in a variety of work situations and incidental to many different occupations in MWR, such as grounds maintenance, warehouses, facilities, and rental operations. This involves heavy labor, the use of hand and power tools, operating motor vehicles, towed, and large equipment.

A qualified candidate possess the following:

• Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of various large equipment and power tools: (Operates a variety of power equipment to include, but not limited to: posthole diggers, blowers, weed eaters, power washers, mowers, box trucks with lift gate, etc.)
• Ability to operate and control riding mowers on slopes which requires constant attention to working space and environment.
• Ability to safely operate equipment around buildings, walls, trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, trenches, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles.
• Ability to operate various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift/lower, adjust, engage/disengage components or attached devices.
• Knowledge and skill using hand tools and other equipment such as: shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment, and pallet jacks.
• Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks by following detailed processes which require remembering directions, sequences, following simple drawings, etc.
• Ability to follow general instructions or read simple drawings to perform tasks requiring significant manual skill.
