Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital is seeking a dedicated Music Therapist to provide comprehensive clinical therapy services to patients, supporting their mental and physical well‑being through creative therapy. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address patient goals and participate in research to advance music therapy practices.

The role requires AMTA/MT-BC credentials, 1 year of experience, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or AMTA-accredited program in Music Therapy.
  • Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) or MT-BC with LPMT within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of music therapy experience required (practicum/internship counted).
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Three years of hospital music therapy experience (preferred).
  • Master's Degree (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and evaluate music therapy interventions addressing biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families.
  • Serve as clinical and educational resource for hospital units and professional community.
  • Assist and participate in research, developing topics and protocols, collecting results and assisting in articles for submission.
  • Assist Music Therapy Department to develop and evaluate programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate therapy observation experiences, write reports and collaborate on projects.

Job description

As a Music Therapist, you will provide patients with comprehensive clinical therapy services designed to help them meet individual goals and enhance their well-being. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in both the lives of patients and their families by offering them a creative outlet for various mental and physical health ailments.

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00am to 4:30pm or 8:30am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 5:30pm. This position will report to Avon 3 days per week and report to Main Campus 2 days a week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Design, implement and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families as appropriate.
  • Serve as clinical and educational resource for the hospital units and professional community regarding music therapy practice.
  • Assist and participate in research as needed, working with teams to develop research topics and protocols, conducting research, gathering results and assisting in articles for submission.
  • Assist Music Therapy Department as needed to develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate therapy observation experiences, write reports and collaborate on other projects as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
  • Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) through the Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board
  • OR Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) and LPMT within 90 days of hire
  • One year of experience providing music therapy services is required. Consideration will be made for time spent in practicum or internship providing music therapy services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross within 90 days of hire

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Three years of experience providing Music Therapy in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Master's Degree
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time; hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time, close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time; hearing and talking more than 80% of the time; and pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $20.77

Maximum hourly: $31.68
