Job summary

Lewis and Clark Community College's Music Department seeks a Music Production Studio Assistant to maintain the studio, support students and faculty, and ensure equipment is safe and available for teaching and projects.

You will assist with operation of equipment and software, set up and test gear, manage inventories, and help create an inclusive, welcoming learning environment that promotes creativity and student success.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and experience in music production, audio engineering, recording arts, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of audio recording, editing, mixing, and music production techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot audio recording and production equipment.
  • Punctual, dependable, and responsible work behavior.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with students and faculty in a diverse college environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and provide supportive assistance to individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different situations and work varied hours as needed to support studio use, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and the mission and core values of Lewis and Clark Community College.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the music production studio and its equipment in a clean, organized, safe, and functional condition; identify equipment problems and submit maintenance or IT work orders or request repairs as needed.
  • Set up, test, maintain, and properly store microphones, headphones, speakers, audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, computers, cables, instruments, and other studio equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare the studio for scheduled student and faculty use and ensure that equipment and facilities are properly secured and restored following use.
  • Assist students with the operation of studio equipment and music production software, including basic troubleshooting related to recording, editing, mixing, and other music production activities, supporting student learning and achievement.
  • Assist faculty with preparing the studio, equipment, and other resources for instructional activities, demonstrations, and student projects.
  • Maintain and organize inventories of studio equipment, supplies, digital resources, and equipment documentation with accuracy and integrity.
  • Monitor studio use and help ensure that students follow established procedures for the safe and appropriate use of equipment and facilities.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that values people, diverse perspectives, and equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Build positive and respectful working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners while providing responsive and supportive service.
  • Perform other Music Department duties as assigned.
