Wilton Conservatory of Music offers after-school private guitar and piano lessons at Cider Mill School in Wilton, CT. We seek a qualified instructor with a degree or active pursuit in Music and expertise in guitar and piano.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience teaching private lessons across ages, with strong note reading and theory knowledge. Responsibilities include preparing students for exams and performances, adapting lessons to needs, and maintaining clear communication

Job Description

Wilton Conservatory of Music offers private music lessons after school at Cider Mill School in Wilton, CT. We currently have an opening for a guitar/piano instructor.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

• A degree (or pursuing a degree) in Music and/or high musical competence and proficiency in a musical instrument, specifically guitar and piano. Additional instruments are a plus.
• Performance experience is a plus.
• Comfortable teaching various styles and genres, various ages and levels, from beginner to advanced.
• Minimum 3 years of experience teaching private music lessons to elementary-aged students through adults.
• Ability to adapt lessons based on student needs and goals.
• Experience teaching music fundamentals (note reading, sight reading, scales, technique, theory, etc.)
• Prepare students for examinations, auditions, and live performances as needed.
• Prepare students for informal mid- or end-of-year recitals.
• Effectively communicate with parents.
• Responsible, conscientious, and punctual.

• Administrative Support - scheduling, registration, payment, marketing, organization of recitals, and other administrative support.
• All lessons are in one place - little to no downtime between lessons.

Required training (upon hiring): (may change)

• Anti-Bullying Safe School Climate (yearly) - online
• DCF Mandated Reporter (every 3 years) - online (State of CT)
• Identification and Prevention of Adult Sexual Misconduct Against Children(every 3 years) - online (State of CT)
• CHRO Training (every 10 years - or yearly depending on the program being used by the school)
• Child Trafficking and Identification Prevention Training - (every 3 years) - online (State of CT)

Reports to: Coordinator, Wilton Conservatory of Music

Terms of Employment: Hourly, part-time position, 2:30-7:00 (approx.), M-F, hours and day(s) to be determined based on demand and instructor availability. Certification is not required. This is NOT a classroom teaching position within the Wilton Public Schools, even though, if hired, you will be working within Wilton Public Schools and will complete the same application process.
