Job summary

Cresskill School of Rock in Cresskill, NJ is seeking a Music Instructor to lead private lessons and rehearsal sessions, delivering a dynamic, inspiring student experience.

The role emphasizes teaching fundamentals, using the School of Rock Method, and documenting thoughtful lesson plans. You will engage with families, support performances, and help keep the facilities vibrant.

A passion for teaching and at least 2 years of music teaching or performing experience are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Strong customer relations skills; able to deal with a wide range of customers.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Resourceful; good problem-solver.
• Works well under pressure.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction through private lessons and show rehearsals.
• Ensure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs, using the School of Rock Method.
• Create and document lesson plans using our patented teaching Method, Books and Method App.
• Communicate with parents on the progress of students by creating quality lesson notes and assignments in the School of Rock Method App for at-home practice.
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible while at the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program.
• Assist in rehearsals and with the upkeep of lesson facilities school

As a Music Instructor you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within the lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Music Instructor positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills.
