Job description

Overview

The Movement Dance Experience is expanding. We’re hiring a Dynamic, Skilled, and Reliable Music Educator to lead group classes and provide private instruction as part of a new Music Program that complements our arts and dance community.

This is an opportunity to shape confident young musicians, nurture creativity, and help build a program that aligns with our studio’s mission. We value excellence, structure, and heart.

If you want to make an impact, take ownership of your craft, and be part of a team that supports growth, this may be the right fit.

Note: This is not intended to be a temporary or filler position.

Position Requirements & Schedule

  • Consistent availability during: Monday–Thursday 3:00 PM–8:00 PM; Thursday 9:00 AM–12:00 PM; Friday 9:00 AM–12:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
  • Applicants must be able to commit to these hours. Music classes and private lessons will be scheduled within this window.
  • Teachers will not be scheduled for every hour listed; schedules are assigned based on program needs and may change seasonally.
  • Open, consistent availability during listed hours is required. Recurring conflicts during these times are not a fit for this position.

What We’re Looking For

  • Versatile & Confident Music Educators — teach music theory in engaging, age-appropriate group classes; confident private instrument instruction (piano required; guitar preferred; drums, violin, ukulele, and other instruments are a bonus); comfortable with vocal instruction if qualified; passion for building musical foundations and sparking creativity; flexible to studio needs.
  • Reliable, Professional, & Organized Leaders — punctual, fully prepared for every class; strong classroom management for groups of 1–15; maintain professionalism and positive energy; follow studio curriculum and standards; take responsibility for engaging lessons and student progress.
  • Growth-Oriented Mentors — nurture developing musicians, track progress, help students set goals; openness to expanding the program (e.g., choir or multi-instrument workshops); leadership opportunities as the program grows; participation in performances and studio events.

What You’ll Be Doing

Group Music Theory Instruction
  • Prepare and lead engaging, structured music theory classes for ages 3–5, 6–8, 9–12, and teens as needed.
  • Teach rhythmic understanding, notation, musicality, listening skills, and foundational musicianship.
  • Use creative methods to make theory accessible and fun.
Private Lessons & Instrument Instruction
  • Provide one‑to‑one lessons for beginner-level musicians in piano, guitar, or other instruments you teach.
  • Support technique, confidence, practice habits, and overall growth; prepare students for progress evaluations and seasonal performances.
Vocal Instruction (if applicable)
  • Teach beginner vocal technique, breathing, pitch, tone, confidence, and performance skills.
  • Potential to lead group vocal classes or a children’s choir as the program expands.
Student & Family Engagement
  • Build supportive relationships with students and families; communicate scheduling, progress, and events; welcome trial students and create positive experiences.
Studio Collaboration & Program Development
  • Collaborate with leadership and fellow educators to build a cohesive arts environment; help shape curriculum, class structure, and student pathways; assist with studio events, shows, and marketing content; maintain a clean, organized music space.
Compensation & Growth Opportunities

Base Pay: $20/hour

Estimated Hours Per Week: 4–10

Performance-Based Bonuses: Compensation can increase based on enrollment, retention, and program success.

Professional Growth: Leadership roles and additional teaching hours available based on performance and commitment.

Compensation structure and growth opportunities will be discussed during the hiring process.
