Responsibilities

• Lead the congregation playing Organ or Piano with the band for worship.
• Worship planning and music selection in collaboration with the pastor.
• Select music that is theologically sound and accessible to the congregation.
• Recruit, plan, rehearse, and choose music for Easter and Christmas choirs.
• Music administration: maintain libraries and communicate expectations with musicians.
• Coordinate sound, microphones, livestream audio, and work with tech volunteers for clear sound.
• Assist in Vacation Bible School music planning and week.

General Overview:

The music director oversees the music for the congregation for services and special events such as weddings and funerals, etc. and maintains instruments of the congregation. Music director will also play for services.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in piano or organ
• Strong vocal ability and ability to teach/lead singing
• Ability to read music (sight-reading is a plus)
• Knowledge of a variety of musical styles (traditional hymns, contemporary worship, choral music)
• Experience directing choirs, ensembles, or worship teams
• Familiarity with sound systems, microphones, and basic audio tech
• Experience with worship planning software (e.g., ProPresenter)

Hours: Part time job – 15-25 hours a week

Reports: Pastor, Elders, Council

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the congregation playing Organ or Piano with the band for worship
• Worship Planning and Music Selection: Collaborate with the pastor to plan music that supports the lectionary, liturgical season, and sermon themes
• Select music that is theologically sound, liturgically appropriate, and musically accessible to the congregation (i.e. Hymns that are familiar or easy to learn, arrange keys and transitions for contemporary songs)
• Easter Choir and Christmas Choir: Recruit, plan, rehearse, and choose music that reflects the appropriate season
• Music Administration: maintain music libraries, communicate with musicians the expectations
• Technical and Production Oversight: Coordinate sound, microphones, assist with livestream audio for worship. Work with Tech volunteers to ensure clear, balanced sound.
• Assist in Vacation Bible School music planning and week.
