Job summary

The Mushroom Research Center at Penn State University seeks a Research Coordinator to design, plan, and oversee daily mushroom cultivation operations and assist in research activities. You will coordinate growing room usage, manage supplies, and support experimental design, data management, and timelines, serving as the main contact for faculty leadership, sponsors, and partners.

You will work in indoor growing rooms and facilities, operate equipment safely, and ensure facilities and systems

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of mushroom cultivation and substrate preparation.
• Strong organizational and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee mushroom cultivation activities and crop setup.
• Coordinate growing room usage and crop timelines with researchers.
• Maintain supplies and manage inventory for uninterrupted operations.
• Operate and maintain equipment safely (forklifts, skid-steers, etc.).
• Assist with facility management and coordination with OPP for repairs.
• Use software systems to monitor mushroom growth parameters.
