Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution, National Air and Space Museum (NASM) seeks two Visitor Services Coordinators to support volunteer programs, greet the public, and help manage daily operations at NASM sites in Washington, DC and Chantilly, VA.

The role focuses on volunteer programming, training, and customer service, with responsibilities spanning entrance operations, health and safety, and cross‑office collaboration. A Bachelor's degree and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 24 hours in a related field or equivalent combination.
• Three years of specialized experience including volunteer management and training.

Responsibilities

• Support Visitor Services volunteer programs and briefing volunteers at Welcome Centers.
• Plan, manage, and implement all elements of Visitor Services operations.
• Provide customer service for visitors, staff and volunteers.
• Coordinate across NASM and SI offices to meet visitor and museum needs.
• Direct and manage policies for the Volunteer program and maintain records.
• Oversee timed-entry operations and support contract staff at NASM locations.
