The United States Senate seeks an experienced Registrar to direct the registration and loan program for the Senate Curator's Office. The role focuses on safeguarding the Senate Collection through careful registration, cataloging, and loan oversight.
You will develop standards for acquisition, inventory, safe storage, handling, and movement of works of art and historical objects, and oversee the inbound and outbound loan process in line with Senate policies and federal regulation.
This is professional, technical, and administrative work directing the registration and loan program of the Office of Senate Curator on behalf of the Senate Commission on Art (the Commission). Responsibilities include developing, managing, and implementing standards, policies, procedures, and documentation for the acquisition, inventory, safe storage, handling, placement, and movement of works of art and historical objects in the U.S. Senate Collection. In addition, the Registrar oversees management of the incoming and outgoing loan program.
Work is bound by the Commission; Secretary of the Senate policies and procedures; Senate procurement regulations; federal appropriations law; the U.S. Senate Handbook; the Senate Ethics Manual; the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration; the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act; and standards established by the American Alliance of Museums, but requires independent judgment in setting priorities and handling assignments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Associate Curator.
