Job summary

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles is seeking a Specialist, Exhibitions Fabrication to maintain the shop, oversee construction and installation of display casework, and assist with artifact mounts preparation for exhibitions. The role requires hands-on fabrication, collaboration with design teams, and strong attention to safety and scheduling.

The position reports to the Senior Manager, Exhibitions Fabrication and is a full-time, non-exempt hourly role with union

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in a design/shop-related field.
• Experience with CAD programs (Vector Works, Rhino).
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials and finishes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in different phases.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate exhibition casework and object mounts.
• Collaborate with Exhibition Design to align fabrication with creative intent.
• Develop design drawings from concept to construction.
• Create project schedules, cost estimates, and material lead times.
• Maintain shop space and inventory; promote safety.
• Coordinate with external fabricators and site rotations.
