Job summary

The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission's Montgomery Parks unit seeks a Program Manager to lead educational and public programming at the Josiah Henson Museum & Park. You will create engaging experiences for students, families, educators, and community groups across on-site, off-site, and virtual settings.

You will oversee interpretation, outreach, and partnerships, recruit and guide staff, and help ensure budgets, logistics, and resources support impactful learning experiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in History, Public History, Museum Studies, Education, Historic Preservation, Interpretive Research, or related field.
  • One year of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted (total five years).
  • Valid driver's license per state and Commission rules, unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver educational and public programs for multicultural and multigenerational audiences.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support seasonal interpretive staff and volunteers; manage registrations and schedules.
  • Develop partnerships with schools, cultural institutions, and community organizations; foster inclusive learning environments.
