Job summary

Ladgov Corporation is seeking a qualified Museum Curator to support the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum in Port Hueneme, California. The selected candidate will assist with preserving, documenting, and digitizing the museum's historic artifact collection while working closely with museum leadership and staff.

This role focuses on inventory management, photography, and ensuring proper artifact preservation to improve access to the collection.

Qualifications

• Experience with museum collections, archives, or historical artifacts.
• Knowledge of collection management standards and preservation practices.
• Experience with digital photography for documentation purposes.
• Proficiency with Photoshop Elements and Acrobat Pro.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with museum staff and visitors.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inventory of museum artifacts and storage areas.
• Unpack, identify, catalog, and repack artifacts using preservation standards.
• Photograph artifacts for digital records.
• Support the museum's collection digitization efforts.
• Maintain accurate collection records and documentation.
• Handle artifacts carefully to ensure long-term preservation.
• Work with museum staff on special projects and assigned collection activities.
• Follow established museum collection management procedures and best practices.
• Maintain organized work areas and ensure proper storage of artifacts.
