Job summary

Qualifications

  • Current food handlers permit once employed.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Second language: spoken, read and/or written.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
  • Gain knowledge of department products and respond to questions with suggestions.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover items they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of cheese specials.
  • Train and coach associates to perform duties effectively.
  • Provide customers with fresh products ordered with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients per recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality for freshness; review sell-by dates and take action.
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Understand store layout and locate products on request.
  • Stay current with ads (present, future, seasonal).
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain logs.
  • Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
  • Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs.
  • Notify management of accidents.
  • Report safety risks, theft, fraud or illegal activity.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist management in achieving sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of cheese specials.
  • Train and coach associates within the department to effectively perform their job duties at a satisfactory or above level.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe, using variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Display a positive attitude.
  • Understand the store’s layout and be able to locate products when requested by customer.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory.

  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Report all safety risk, or issues and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
