Job summary

The City of Suffolk is seeking a professional in the Treasurer's Office to perform advanced fiscal control and accounting duties. You will ensure integrity of receipts, deposits, investments, and disbursements, and report results to the Treasurer.

Responsibilities include data analysis, reconciliations, audits of daily staff work, and preparation of various financial reports. A2-level accounting degree and 2–3 years' experience are required, with MGDT certification as a future goal.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of accounting work experience.
• Must pursue MGDT certification to designation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains fiscal data, records and reports pertaining to all city collections.
• Reconciles monthly bank statements and interest earnings.
• Audits daily work performed by customer service staff.
• Prepares and distributes reports, schedules and account analyses to Treasurer.
• Prepares checks and transfers money between bank accounts.
• Assists with year-end audit schedules.
