Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Municipal Pumping Sales Engineer to partner with our experienced Municipal Pumping Systems Sales team in this environmentally focused industry.

A Municipal Pumping Sales Engineer at Smith and Loveless is responsible for sales, handling bidding and inquiries for Smith & Loveless, Inc. pumping products and services in their territory within the Domestic market. The role involves calling on cities, counties, consulting engineers, contractors, and municipal and regulatory officials to promote Smith & Loveless, Inc. pumping products for new applications. The position also includes hiring, training, and encouraging a sales network to promote and sell S&L pumping products.

Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering or a sales-related field preferred
  • 2 years experience with water and/or wastewater equipment preferred; 3 years experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Effective communication, human relations, and sales abilities.
  • Conceptualization and negotiation skills along with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Ability to drive a pickup truck with a demonstration trailer as needed.
  • 50% - 60% domestic travel required.
Job Duties
  • Plan sales coverage for the region and develop strategies to increase sales of S&L pumping systems.
  • Develop strategies to improve order closure rates.
  • Build relationships with consulting engineers, cities, counties, and contractors. Cultivate key account personnel.
  • Provide timely follow-up on pricing, bids, inquiries, and submittals.
  • Offer technical knowledge and accurate information to support local engineers, developers, municipalities, and representatives in designing and purchasing S&L products. Stay updated on industry technology.
  • Promote the full range of S&L pumping equipment and ensure proper application.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and recommend marketing strategies.
  • Maintain open communication with the Manager, Pumping Systems, and other internal departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Keep the work environment tidy and organized.
