Job summary

Southern Search in Huntsville seeks an experienced civil engineering project manager who can own client relationships, lead engineers across offices, and drive projects from initial planning through construction close-out.

You will make day-to-day calls on scope, schedule, and budget, act as Engineer of Record when needed, ensure compliance with codes and permitting, and help grow the Huntsville and Mobile practice across municipal and site development work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years in civil engineering with site development or municipal infrastructure experience.
• Proven track record managing projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong client relationship and leadership capabilities.
• Experience with Alabama permitting.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil engineering projects from planning through construction close-out.

Job description

Growing firms need PMs who can actually run a project, not just manage a checklist. That's the search Southern Search is running for a multi-state civil engineering firm expanding its Huntsville presence into new municipal and site development work across Alabama and the Gulf Coast.

This isn't a wait for direction role. You'd own the client relationship, own the team, and own the outcome, with real say in how this office grows.

The Role

You're managing civil engineering projects from the first planning conversation through construction close-out. You're the person the client calls. You're leading engineers and technical staff, sometimes across office lines, and making the day to day calls on scope, schedule, and budget that keep a project on track.

Day to Day

• Run projects end to end, planning through construction


• Be the client's go-to contact and build relationships that turn into repeat business


• Lead and coordinate project teams across multiple offices


• Own project scope, schedule, and budget


• Step in as Engineer of Record when needed, keeping everything compliant with codes, standards, and permitting requirements


• Coordinate with MEP and other multidisciplinary teams


• Help win new work: support proposals and client engagement as the Huntsville practice grows


• Mentor newer engineers and help set the tone for a strong technical team

What Gets You Considered
