Job summary

The City of St. Marys is seeking an accounting professional to support the finance department with bank reconciliations, revenue postings, and property tax processing.

This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of tax procedures, and the ability to prepare journal entries for monthly close. Responsibilities include assisting with property taxes, generating monthly financial statements for tourism and other funds, and supporting annual audits with documentation and reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; and
• More than three years of related accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Possession of a valid state driver’s license.
• Certified Local Govt Finance Officer Program Level 1 must be obtained within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Reconciles bank accounts to the general ledger and prepares journal entries.
• Assists with property tax billing and collection operations and inquiries.
• Records revenues and receipts, prepares external invoicing, and researches discrepancies.
• Prepares monthly sales tax reports and ensures reconciliation with financial records.
• Provides property tax information to citizens and mortgage companies; assists with senior exemptions.
