Job summary

Woodward in Loves Park, IL is seeking a Machinist for 2nd shift to support Multus Machine Operations at the Rock Cut Campus. The role focuses on manufacturing aerospace parts with setup of CNC and manual machines, tight tolerances, and quality inspections.

Training begins with a 2-week first shift schedule, then transitions to 2nd shift (M-Th 3:30pm-1:50am) with overtime as needed. Woodward offers extensive benefits and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Operates CNC or manual machines to produce precision metal parts.
• Reads and interprets engineering blueprints and GD&T.
• Performs basic setup and first-article inspection.
• Maintains quality records and adheres to SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC/Manual machines (Lathes/Mills/Swiss/Grinding).
• Perform supporting operations and simple sub-assemblies.
• Conduct 1st piece inspections and follow established procedures.
• Follow instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy.

Level 1: Estimated base pay $21.15 - $27.40 Plus overtime

Level 2: Estimated base pay $24.04 - $31.25 Plus overtime

If you have experience in Machining and are looking to join a great organization, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Woodward in Loves Park, IL is hiring for a 2nd shift, M-Th3:30pm-1:50am & overtime as needed on Fridays Machinist to support our Multus Machine Operations at our Rock Cut Campus. This individual will be responsible for manufacturing aerospace parts and components.

If you are an experienced machine operator or are looking to advance your manufacturing skills.

Mandatory Training for 1st 2 weeks: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Training starting week 3: 2nd shift, M-Th 3:30pm-1:50am

Key Responsibilities

• Performs basic Set up and operates multiple CNC or Manual (Lathes/Milling/Swiss/Grinding-OD/ID) machines, and other machinery to produce precision metal parts according to specifications.
• Performs supporting operations (ex. manual material removal, sub-assembly, etc.) while following established procedures.
• Performs 1st piece inspections and may be required to train in these processes.
• Follows detailed work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy. Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and basic GD&T knowledge.
• Uses various gages to inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Records and maintains data per operating standards (SOP).
• Proactively applies 5S principles, identifies opportunities to improve workstation organization and cleanliness, and ensures compliance with team standards. Assists in implementing new organizational practices as directed.
• Encourages adherence to safety protocols within the team

Key Skills

• Skilled in operating multiple CNC or Manual machining equipment such as Lathes, Mills, Swiss, and OD/ID Grinders. Proficient in supporting operations.
• Identifies gap-to-standard and resolves or escalates them per standard processes/procedures. Analyzes problems, proposes solutions, and implements corrective actions with minimal supervision.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems and components. Ability to use inspection gaging and hand/power tools.
• Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to support workflow and expand immediate issues. Demonstrates Woodward's Core Values.
• Proactively prioritizes time to complete assigned tasks within established schedules. Drives to maintain efficiency standards.
