Job summary

The Indian Health Service is seeking dedicated physicians to provide comprehensive medical care. The role includes evaluating and treating a variety of health needs while collaborating with healthcare teams.

Applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, an unrestricted medical license, and have completed at least one year of graduate training. A commitment to improving healthcare delivery, mentorship, and fulfilling U.S. citizenship requirements are also essential.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (or equivalent) from a U.S. or Canadian school accredited by recognized bodies; foreign medical school graduates must be equivalently accredited.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted state or territorial license or registration as a physician.
• At least one year of supervised graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship) in a recognized program.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert, patient-centered medical care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care, review conflicting medical evidence to reach final conclusions.
• Perform specialty-specific diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures consistent with training and credentialing, including adjudicating complex disability claims.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and professional development of medical staff, students, and trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical innovation initiatives to advance healthcare delivery.
