Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or equivalent experience.
• Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting (depending on market size).
• Superior on-air presence and strong storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Reports news stories for broadcast, describing background and details.
• Arranges interviews with information sources.
• Reviews copy for errors and follows editorial style guidelines.
• Determines story emphasis, length and format, and organizes material accordingly.
• Researches background information to provide complete and accurate reporting.
• Gathers information through research, interviews, and event attendance.
• Pitches stories to editors and producers relevant to the local community.
• Receives assignments and evaluates leads to develop story ideas.
• Discusses issues with producers to establish priorities.
• Checks reference materials to obtain relevant facts.
• Revises work to fit time requirements and editorial approval.
• Shoots and edits news events and reports for all platforms.
• Ensures content meets company standards for integrity and quality.
• Writes stories for web and eMedia platforms.
• Interacts with viewers on social media.
