Job summary

WVEC-TV, part of TEGNA Inc., in Norfolk, VA, is seeking an innovative, tech-minded Producer to shape our daily newscasts. You’ll build and execute shows that engage, educate, and inform our audiences across streaming and broadcast platforms.

You'll lead multi-skilled storytelling with a collaborative newsroom, pitching compelling stories, crafting rundowns, and coordinating with leadership to ensure editorial and technical quality under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of news content experience, ideally show production.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple aspects of newscast production under deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for newsroom coordination.
• Proficiency in production tools; willingness to learn systems for production coding and show direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead the entire newscast process from ideation to execution.
• Craft and produce stories across platforms for diverse audiences.
• Build comprehensive rundowns with compelling stories and production elements.
• Collaborate with newsroom leadership to ensure editorial consistency and quality.
