Job summary

KVUE-TV in Austin, a TEGNA affiliate, seeks a talented Multi-Skilled Journalist to craft unique, memorable stories across TV, web and social platforms. The role emphasizes storytelling, strong photography and editing while breaking news and developing ideas for multiple platforms.

The ideal candidate will shoot, write, produce and edit under deadlines, with solid news judgment, creativity and ethical decision-making. Knowledge of Austin is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years reporting experience preferred.
• Solid news judgment and strong communication, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills.
• Strong writing, production and tease writing abilities.
• Organized with the ability to work under constant deadlines.
• Calm under live breaking news situations.
• Proven social and digital content creation ability.
• Knowledge of Austin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots in a developing story or in breaking news situations.
• Develop story ideas.
• Mine the community to find sources who will keep you informed about events and ideas in their areas of expertise.
• Identify, write and produce stories within a specific framework.
• Research for facts and credibility.
• Maintain and develop sources to enhance reporting.
• Shoot, write, produce and edit on air and online content within deadlines.
• Use graphics and new media to enhance stories.
• Utilize social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
• Attend editorial meetings and contribute story ideas daily.
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner.
