Job summary

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ seeks a CT/MR technologist or a CT/NM technologist to join our busy radiology team. Schedule: Saturday through Monday, 6:00pm–6:30am, with 2–3 call shifts per month; holidays rotate and licensure may vary.

You will perform prescribed CT/MRI/NM procedures, produce high‑quality images, educate patients, and ensure equipment safety. Requirements include ARRT certification, state license, and ARRT CT within 18 months; BLS as well.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • National Certification required from ARRT or NMTCB.
  • State licensure required for AZ, WY, NV; CT license prior to hire.
  • Advanced Certification in Computed Tomography required within 18 months of hire.
  • Certification for BLS is required.
  • Two years of clinical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders.
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment.

Location: Banner Thunderbird Medical Center - 5555 W Thunderbird Rd, Glendale, AZ 85306. As a trauma/stroke/pediatric hospital, days are exciting and fast-paced!

Schedule: Saturday through Monday from 6:00pm to 6:30am. 2 to 3 Call Shifts per month.

Rotating Holidays. There will be floating according to your licensure.

Need 2 of the following medical licensures (XR/CT/NM/MRI). The best combination would be CT/MR or CT/NM, but they would be in one modality per day. So, as an example, if the hire was a CT/MR technologist, they would be in MR one day and CT two days. On the MR days, the ask is to scan 10-12 patients per shift 12-hour shift. When they were in CT, the ask would be to scan 20-24 patients. If they are CT licensed, we have 4 systems (1 Siemens, 3 GEs), if MR we have 3 MRIs (1 Siemens, 2 GE) and Nuclear Medicine we have 3 Siemens gamma cameras. Medical Imaging wears black scrubs.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
  • Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies if applicable.
  • Perform and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.
  • Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
  • Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non‑interruption of services.
  • Independently performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • National Certification required from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(R) or ARRT(NM)) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB (CNMT)).
  • State Licensure required for AZ, WY, NV; includes Radiography or Nuclear Medicine and CT license prior to hire (not required in Colorado).
  • Advanced Certification in Computed Tomography required within 18 months of hire from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT(CT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board – NMTCB (CT).
  • Certification for BLS is required.
  • This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with two years of experience.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
