The portfolio includes 80 markets with the top-rated television station and 100 markets with the first and/or second highest rated television station in average all-day ratings across 116 of such markets that were measured by Nielsen in 2025. We also own the largest Telemundo Affiliate group with 46 markets and Gray Digital Media, a full-service digital agency offering national and local clients digital marketing strategies with the most advanced digital products and services. Our additional media properties include video production companies Raycom Sports, Tupelo Media Group, and PowerNation Studios, and studio production facilities Assembly Atlanta and Third Rail Studios.

About WLOX:

Ready to join a newsroom that aggressively uncovers the truth? For over six decades, WLOX has been South Mississippi's undisputed news leader, proudly holding down both the #1 and #2 spots as the region's ABC and CBS affiliate. We're building the future of local news with a sharp focus on impactful investigative journalism and leading the charge in digital storytelling across every platform. Here, you'll be part of an award-winning team committed to serving our community while shaping the evolving landscape of media.

Job Summary/Description:

Are you wired to uncover stories that truly matter? Do you thrive at the intersection of local news and digital speed? WLOX is on the hunt for a Multimedia Journalist who can bring their A-game to every platform, from broadcast to the web, and into the heart of our community. If you're a self-starter with a nose for news and a passion for connecting with audiences wherever they are, then this is your opportunity to make a significant impact!

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Craft compelling stories: Write, shoot, and edit engaging news stories for TV, web, and all our digital platforms, ensuring our community is always informed and connected.
  • Be the first on the scene: Report live and react instantly to breaking news, severe weather, or major community events, bringing real-time updates across every screen and channel.
  • Unearth vital narratives: Research, pitch, and develop impactful news stories that resonate deeply with our local audience and shed light on important issues.
  • Own the moment: Navigate fast-paced, high-pressure environments and make sound, split-second decisions during live broadcasts, maintaining composure and confidence under pressure.
  • Step up to the anchor desk: Seize opportunities to fill in as an anchor, showcasing your versatility and leadership in front of the camera (based on your interest and ability, of course!).
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • A degree in Communications/Journalism or an equivalent passion-driven, real-world experience (we value grit and smarts!).
  • An insatiable curiosity for current events and what truly matters to our local community.
  • Digital fluency: You're not just comfortable with social media; you wield it as a powerful newsgathering, storytelling, and audience engagement tool.
  • Team player & solo star: You thrive in collaborative environments but are equally effective working independently, especially when deadlines are tight.
  • Physical readiness: Able to confidently lift and carry essential equipment, including your tripod, camera, and lights—because great stories don't always happen in a studio!
  • A clean driving record and a valid driver's license (essential for covering stories across our community).
  • Unshakeable news judgment: You know a story when you see it, how to tell it responsibly and why it matters to our viewers.
  • Urgency with empathy: You're driven to get the story first, but always with respect, understanding and a commitment to accuracy.
